Frequently asked questions

UVS is a universal vendor organization that manages all Health Care Industry Representatives' (HCIR) credentialing data. We seek to establish a gold standard using best practices established by existing professional and trade organizations. UVS works directly with HCIR employers to ensure that hospitals will have direct and immediate access to all HCIR credentials. UVS will also work with other Vendor Credentialing Companies who have been contracted by hospitals to manage HCIR credentials for their particular institutions.

Based on best practices of existing organizations we will require:

  • Training Documentation;
  • Device/Procedure-Specific Training;
  • HIPAA / Patient Confidentiality & Privacy training;
  • Conduct Policies and Procedures - letter from Company verifying training and/or stating that Company requires and HCIR to be trained on policies and procedures consistent with a nationally recognized applicable industry code of ethics, such as the AdvaMed Code of Ethics;
  • OSHA/Blood Borne Pathogens;
  • Vaccinations:
  • TB Test (Annually);
  • Hepatitis B vaccine was offered per OSHA standard;
  • Mumps, Measles, Rubella (MMR) immunity or documentation of 2 doses of the MMR vaccine and evidence of varicella immunity or 2 doses of the adult varicella vaccine Influenza shot record (annually)
  • Product and/or General Liability Insurance - Company policy for vendor coverage, statement of liability insurance letter, certificate of liability insurance. This includes limits of liability coverage and dates of coverage.
  • Background Verification - Letter from Company attesting that background verification was performed for each representative upon hire. The letter should include a healthcare sanctions (OIG exclusion, FDA and GSA debarment) check. UVS will not maintain a record of an actual background check for privacy concerns. This will be maintained by the HCIR’s employer.

UVS will not provide specific Hospital Unit Orientation/Policies and Procedures. If additional Unit policies are required by the hospital, the hospital is responsible for conducting the orientation and enforcing its policy. If there are hospital rules and policies related to appointments, check-in processes and/or other requirements, these policies and procedures should be communicated and observed. If there are specific tests from a health care facility, UVS can be contacted to disseminate that test to the HCIRs using UVS Education.

It is the employer's responsibility to enter its employee HCIR information into the representative's profile. If the employee HCIR is not certified, the HCIR may take the requisite testing modules for fees at www.vendorquiz.com. Once the HCIR succesfully completes the exams, the HCIR will be certified.

  • HCIR Legal Name
  • HCIR Email Address
  • HCIR Primary Contact Number
  • HCIR Work Address
  • Proof of Criminal Background Check including Healthcare sanctions check
  • Proof of limited liability Insurance
  • Device Training Documentation
  • HIPPA Training Documentation
  • Blood Borne Pathogen Training Documentation
  • Code of Ethics Training Documentation

Once the employer has originated the HCIR in the salesforce.com UVS Portal, an email notification will be sent to the representative for completion of the vendor credentialing process. The HCIR will then be issued his/her unique Universal Vendor ID. At this point, HCIR will have the opportunity to upload all other required documentation into the secure portal. Additionally, the HCIR will have the opportunity to complete required training.

It will be the HCIR’s responsibility to review the entries that the employee made and cure any deficiencies. All entries must be completed in order for UVS to certify the HCIR. The HCIR can then supply his/her unique ID to hospitals and vendor credentialing companies to verify their Universal Vendor Status.

No. UVS will exercise a strict privacy policy. The company will not request or collect social security numbers or driver’s license numbers from HCIRs. UVS will require the HCIR’s employer to attest to the vendors criminal background check and healthcare sanctions check (OIG exclusion, FDA and GSA debarment).

If an employer is unable to provide satisfactory evidence of the required checks, UVS may partner with a company that provides background check services for its clients. However, UVS will not use or store this data.
